Whether you’re a parent supporting a budding volleyball star, a coach leading your team, or an athlete ready for your chance to shine, tournament days can be long and exciting.

They may also offer pockets of time perfect for adventure.

With Orlando as our home base, we know all the best tips and secrets to surviving sports tournaments at the Orange County Convention Center. Let us help you make the most of your time on and off the court.

Key Takeaways

Properly Refuel at a Nearby Restaurant

After a day of intense competition, you’ll likely need to refuel.

The area surrounding the OCCC has plenty of comfort food favorites like Olive Garden, UNO Pizzeria and Grill, and just about every fast-food chain you can think of.

But why not seize the opportunity to try a new restaurant with local Central Florida roots?

Head down the road to Pointe Orlando to try fabulous tapas in a colorful and artistic environment at Café Tu Tu Tango.

Also at Pointe Orlando is Taverna Opa, where you can dine on traditional Greek food as belly dancers and live entertainment mingle throughout the restaurant.

To celebrate a game well played, treat yourself to a steak dinner at Jack’s Place, a cozy steakhouse with a menu of premium meat, seafood, and elegant desserts.

Another celebratory spot nearby is Shogun Japanese Steakhouse, a teppanyaki restaurant where your dinner is grilled at your table by a skilled and entertaining chef.

We’ve outlined more ideas for where to dine in Orlando on our dining page to help you find the perfect place to eat.

Get a Taste of Theme Park Magic

One of the best parts of traveling to Orlando for an OCCC sporting event is you’re minutes away from some of the world’s best theme parks.

If you can add a day or two to your trip itinerary to visit Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, or SeaWorld Orlando, we highly recommend it.

But if you only have a few hours to spare, you can still experience theme park magic with a quick trip to Disney Springs or Universal City Walk.

Disney Springs is a massive shopping, dining, and entertainment complex that exudes the essence of Disney.

Celebrate a win or ease a loss with retail therapy as you browse name brand stores, Disney boutiques, and gift shops.

Enjoy a delicious meal at a restaurant like The Boathouse or The Edison, or treat yourself to something sweet at Gideon’s Bakehouse, Salt & Straw, or Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Disney Springs is also home to an AMC Dine-In Movie theatre, Splitsville Luxury Lanes Bowling, and a variety of other attractions and live entertainment perfect for an active visit.

Located at the entrance to two Universal Orlando theme parks, Universal CityWalk is a great way to get a taste of Universal’s style without shelling out big bucks for a ticket.

See the iconic Universal globe before enjoying dinner at a popular restaurant like Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen or Bigfire.

It’s also a great destination for a playful round of mini golf, a trip to the movies, or testing your skills in an Escape Room.

Stay Active

Looking to stay in tip top shape and keep your body ready for action in between competitions?

Try a day pass to the Rosen Aquatic and Fitness Center (RAFC).

This beautiful hidden gem is home to multiple pools, a full fitness center, and diving training facilities.

For $10 a day, you can access all the RAFC amenities, including drop-in fitness classes.

Whether you’re looking to recover tired muscles in an Olympic sized swimming pool, get in a bit of weightlifting before a big match, or clear your mind with a yoga class, you can make it happen at RAFC.

Relax and Unwind

Lounging by the pool is the perfect way to treat your body to a bit of rest while you’re in town for an OCCC sporting event.

At a Rosen Inn, you can pick up your favorite snacks and beverages from the onsite Lite Bite Mini-Market, grab your towel, and head poolside for a relaxing break.

Be sure to use plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated while you’re unwinding. Your body will thank you!

Book a Hotel Near the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC)

Where you stay during your sporting event can make or break your trip.

Booking a room at a Rosen Inn hotel is more than just securing comfortable accommodations – it’s ensuring you’re in the heart of the action even outside of the OCCC.

All four Rosen Inn properties are located in the entertainment district of Orlando, meaning you’re in the middle of some of Central Florida’s best attractions, dining, and more.

Plus, as a guest at our hotels, you’ll be able to take advantage of amenities like seasonally heated swimming pools, onsite dining, and free Wi-Fi.

Have a little extra time to enjoy a day at the theme parks? All four of our Rosen Inn properties offer complimentary shuttles to the three Universal Orlando parks. Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista also offers complimentary shuttles to all four Walt Disney World parks.

We look forward to hosting you for your next OCCC sporting event and cheering you on from the sidelines.
